The Affton High School Fine Arts Department is performing the widely acclaimed musical, Hadestown: Teen Edition at the Judith Rethwisch auditorium on April 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults and are available at the door. The Teen Edition is a modified version of Anaรฏs Mitchell's folk opera, adapted for K-12 school productions, featuring adjusted language and stage action for younger performers while retaining the core story of two intertwining love stories: Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hades and Persephone. Students chose this famous musical because they wanted to be challenged, and Hadestown provides that opportunity. The musical blends the ancient idea of the Greek gods with a modern take and New Orleans-style jazz.
All aspects of the show are produced and directed by Ms. Judith Rethwisch. All features of the play are created by students in the Theater Arts Class. We hope you join us for this phenomenal production and be immersed in the daring 1930s aesthetic. See Greek history in a new light, and reimagine the dynamics between Hades and Persephone, or Orpheus and Eurydice. We truly hope to see you there!
