Affton School District is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Jason Buck as Assistant Superintendent for the 2026-27 school year. Following official approval by the Board of Education at their meeting on Tuesday, May 5, Dr. Buck transitions into this executive role as a proven leader who has dedicated more than 15 years of service to our students, staff, and families.
โDr. Buck has been a pillar of our district leadership,โ said Dr. Travis Bracht, superintendent of Affton Schools. โGiven his extensive experience within our buildingsโfrom his time at Affton High School and Rogers Middle School to his most recent success as Director of College and Career Readinessโhe has built the relationships and trust necessary to lead at the highest level. His dedication to our studentsโ futures is unmatched, and we are thrilled to see him take this next step within our district.โ
Dr. Buck currently serves as the Director of College & Career Readiness, where he has been instrumental in scaling K-12 programs and managing multi-district grant consortiums. Prior to this role, he served eight years as the principal of Rogers Middle School. His tenure in Affton began as the assistant principal at Affton High School, where he served as an administrative liaison for core and elective departments.
Before joining the Affton family, Dr. Buck served as an administrative intern and science department chair at Hancock Place High School. In addition to his 13 years of classroom teaching experience, he served for 13 years in the United States Army Reserves, including five years as a Headquarters Company Commander for the 3/383rd Training Support Battalion.
Dr. Buck earned a doctorate in educational leadership from Southwest Baptist University, a master of arts in education administration from Lindenwood University, and a bachelor of science in education from Southeast Missouri State University. His doctoral research focused on student engagement in one-to-one learning environments.
โI have truly enjoyed the many years I've spent serving the Affton community,โ said Dr. Buck. โThe opportunity to work with our incredible students, families, and staff has been the highlight of my career. I am deeply honored to transition into this new role as Assistant Superintendent and look forward to continuing our work in building a successful future for every Affton student.โ
Dr. Buck and his wife, Leslie, live in the St. Louis area. They have two grown children, including Colin, a 2018 graduate of Affton High School. Dr. Buck will begin his new role on July 1.
