On Tues., February 7, the Affton School District Board of Education approved the hiring of Jason Williams as Safety & Security Coordinator.
In this role, Williams will provide safety and security services to the district, buildings, school grounds, and areas adjacent to the schools to ensure the best possible teaching and learning environment. He will collaborate with the two School Resource Officers (SROs) in the district, as well as with outside agencies, including law enforcement and emergency first responders. Williams will also assist with emergency crisis planning and response and will provide safety and security training for all district staff.

Williamsβ experience includes over 12 years in law enforcement as a police officer for the City of Maryland Heights and the St. Louis County Police Department, as well as serving as a corrections officer at the St. Louis County Justice Center. In addition, Williams served as an infantry officer and company commander for the U.S. Army with a deployment to Afghanistan. Throughout his service in both law enforcement and the military, Williams has been recognized with numerous awards and commendations. He earned a bachelor's degree in pastoral ministry from Evangel University in Springfield, Mo.

Williams grew up near the small town of Quincy, Il. He is married with three daughters aged 11, 9, and 1, and he and his wife are expecting their fourth daughter in April. Williams will begin serving as Safety & Security Coordinator on February 27.
