Affton High School was honored to welcomed a delegation from the Srebrenica Memorial Center. The Center's director, Emir Suljagic, led a conversation with Bosnian American Studies and Social Studies students about the history of Srebrenica, the work of the Memorial Center, the ongoing importance of preserving memory, and the importance of standing for truth.

Every object tells a story!
Seniors in Creative Writing recently participated in an Artifact Gallery Walk (think Show & Tell with an interactive twist!). Students brought in meaningful itemsโfrom favorite books and stuffed animals to keepsakes and memorabiliaโto display for their peers.
During the gallery walk, classmates explored each exhibit and left curious questions on sticky notes. Afterwards, artifact owners read through the notes, answered questions, and clarified details. Every step of the way, students paused to write, reflect, and dive deeper into their storytelling journey.

History came alive for our Honors World History 3 students during a deeply moving visit to the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum. Beyond their textbooks, students engaged directly with original artifacts and primary sources. The most profound moments came from listening to the first hand testimonies of local St. Louis Holocaust survivorsโturning history into a powerful lesson on resilience, empathy, and humanity.

The Affton School District Board of Education will vote on the 2026 tax rate on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, at 7 p.m. during the annual scheduled tax rate hearing. This yearโs proposed rate is $4.5489 per $100 assessed valuation, a $0.0399 decrease from the 2025 rate, which was $4.5491, and maintaining a voluntary tax rollback of 35-cents first introduced in 2017.
The tax rate hearing will begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed immediately by the Board of Education's School Improvement Workshop in the Library at Gotsch Intermediate School (8348 S Laclede Station Road, 63123). Varsity Baseball at Parkway Central is still on for today.
Boys Volleyball Tryouts will be held at Center of St. Louis today due to weather conditions. Transportation will take them and return them to the high school around 5pm.
Spring Sports Tryouts are Monday March 2nd. Students must have all documents completed prior to being allowed to participate. Golf, Track, Baseball, Girls Soccer, Boys Volleyball
